Smart Kids

I bet there are a lot of us who find ourselves having to explain to older family members how to do something on the computer or fix something with the TV. My poor mom just doesn't quite have the technology gene, especially when it comes to computers. But somehow, my niece and nephews are able to do things my parents can't do. Is it all learned behavior? Is it really that easy or are children actually born with some abilities that older adults were not born with? It seems to come so naturally for little kids.

I'm really grateful for the technology I have in my life though. With it I am able to communicate with family that is far away, I can watch or listen to any conference talk, and I can learn about essentially anything on the internet.

  1. So true. Every time I go home, my parents have a long list of things for me to help them with: how to open iTunes, how to switch to Google Chrome, where pictures end up when you upload them from a camera.
The sad thing is that I'm not even very tech-savvy, yet somehow I know how to help them. Weird world.

  2. Amazing that many of us have the same experiences with our parents. I frequently get calls from my mom reminding her how to do something on the computer. Fortunately, she's getting better though! My grandma was a missionary at the family history library and she had to help people with their flash drives and she was so proud when she knew what a jpeg was or something like that. It's just crazy that we've grown up with this technology and it's totally a big part of our lives!
